Conductor: Michael Bell

Michael Bell formed Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra in 1982 and has been the orchestra's conductor for 28 years.
Born in Neath, Michael's interest in conducting began at school and as a member of the West Glamorgan Youth Orchestra, where he played the double bass. After leaving school Michael continued his studies at Cardiff University.
Having left Cardiff University, and with few opportunities to conduct, Michael formed Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra. Michael has become popular with audiences for his informative yet light-hearted presentations of CPO's concerts.
In February 2010 Michael was invited to conduct a concert with the Brecknock Sinfonia at Brecon Cathedral. After a further concert with the orchestra in July 2010 Michael has been invited to conduct the orchestra in its current season.
